Park Steward

Seasonal | April-Oct | Starting At $17 An Hour Or Based On Experience

Lake Cunningham is seeking a part-time Park Steward to join our team. This position is ideal for a retiree who is looking for an enjoyable part-time role (15-20 hours per week), where they can contribute to the park’s well-being and serve as the friendly face of Lake Cunningham. The Park Steward will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for park patrons.

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
  • Successful passing a background check
  • This position is ideally suited for individuals who are retired and seeking a fulfilling part-time role
  • Ability to walk, stand, and perform light physical tasks associated with park maintenance
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly demeanor to interact positively with park visitors
  • Dependable and punctual with a commitment to fulfilling scheduled shifts
  • Ability to perform light maintenance tasks and address minor issues as needed
  • Familiarity with Lake Cunningham Park and its amenities is a plus
  • Conduct regular rounds on the park trails to ensure the safety and well-being of park visitors
  • Report any hazards, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the park management
  • Pick up litter and debris to maintain the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the park
  • Assist with light maintenance duties, such as emptying trash, or minor repairs and adjustments to park amenities
  • Serve as a friendly and approachable point of contact for park patrons
  • Answer questions about the park, its amenities, and upcoming events
  • Provide information and assistance with a positive and helpful attitude
  • Ensure water coolers along the trail are filled and maintained for the convenience of park visitors
  • Coordinate with park management and other staff to address issues and improve park operations
  • Participate in occasional staff meetings to stay informed about park updates and changes

Park Maintenance

Part-Time | Year Round | Starting At $17 An Hour Or Based On Experience

Lake Cunningham is looking for another member to add to our grounds crew. We are looking for a motivated, hard-working individual who is going to take pride in maintaining Lake C at a high level. The Park Maintenance position would spend most of their time picking up ground trash, emptying trash barrels throughout the park, assisting during park events, and performing other grounds maintenance duties.

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
  • Knowledge of safety requirements associated with the operation of mowers and ground maintenance equipment
  • Successful passing a background check
  • Ability to operate riding mowers
  • Emptying trash cans and picking up ground litter
  • Assistance with snow removal
  • Cleaning equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification
  • Services and makes routine repairs to assigned equipment
  • Enjoys working outdoors, is friendly to parkgoers and takes pride in their work
  • Willingness to work consistently throughout the year 
  • Experience preferred in grounds maintenance but is not required
  • Self-starter and reliable

Mowing Technician

Seasonal | May-October | Pay Based On Experience

Lake Cunningham is looking for another member to add to our grounds crew. We are looking for a motivated, hard-working individual who is going to take pride in maintaining Lake C at a high level. The Mowing Technician position would spend most of their time during the week mowing the park.

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
  • Knowledge of safety requirements associated with the operation of mowers and ground maintenance equipment
  • Skills in the operation of mowers and associated attachments
  • Successful in passing a background check

 

  • Operates riding mowers
  • In charge of mowing the grounds at Lake C
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
  • Services and makes routine repairs to assigned equipment
  • Enjoys working outdoors, is friendly to parkgoers and takes pride in their work
  • Willingness to work consistently May-October and spend the majority of their time mowing grass in the park 
  • Experience preferred in grounds maintenance but is not required
  • Self-starter and reliable

Camp Counselor

Seasonal | May-August | Starting at $16 An Hour

The Lake Cunningham Camp Counselor is someone who enjoys working outside and planning and executing camp activities for kids’ programming! This job will include many responsibilities, all with the goal of creating a memorable and meaningful nature experience for youth! Our Camp Counselors are the backbone of our programs and therefore, we pride ourselves in giving them an incredible amount of support. Required training dates for the Camp Counselor position include May 28th – May 31st.

  • Must be 16 years or older and have a valid driver’s license
  • Successful passing a background check
  • Must be CPR certified OR willing to be certified
  • Willingness to work outdoors
  • Previous day camp or working with youth experience is preferred
  • Camp counselors are required to be present for the following training dates, May 28th – May 31st
  • Work with groups in the community to provide a fun, safe, and exciting Lake Cunningham nature experience
  • Work with and supervise kids in a supportive manner
  • Assign and plan daily activities for groups to partake in 
  • Establish emergency rules and safety procedures with campers
  • Ability to cook over a bonfire and assist kids with their meals 
  • Ability to work with children to grow character, experiences, and insights
  • Knowledge and experience with camp programs or youth development
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, caring, dependable, level-headed, and calm in all situations

Park Programmer

Part-Time | Year Round | Starting at $16 An Hour

We’re looking for a part-time Park Programmer to join our team! We are searching for a friendly and outgoing person who would enjoy interacting with park-goers during events and leading activities for all ages! Our ideal candidate loves to be outside and can work well within a team. This position will also be cross-trained in the campground concession stand. 

  • Must be 16 years or older and have a valid driver’s license
  • Successful passing a background check
  • Previous experience in event planning, youth programs, or willingness to learn
  • Ability to help assist with events, youth programs, and related activities efficiently
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people, including children, parents, volunteers, and other staff members
  • A creative mindset to plan and execute engaging events and youth programs
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations is crucial
  • Assist in park events
  • Support the development and implementation of youth programs, including educational and recreational activities
  • Interact with event attendees and program participants, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience
  • Assist with participant registration, maintain accurate records, and handle administrative tasks related to events and programs
  • Coordinate logistical aspects of events and programs, such as setting up equipment, managing supplies, and ensuring a safe and organized environment

Events coordinator

Part-Time | Year Round | Competitive Pay

Are you someone looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to advance your skills and career? Lake C is looking for an ambitious and creative part-time Events Coordinator to join our team! We are looking for someone with charisma and a go-getter personality who will be responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and coordinating park events. The Events Coordinator position will work with the Lake C team to bring new programs and events to the C. This position will also be cross trained in other areas of the park and help out as needed for the team!

An events coordinator must be well-organized and competent in vendor management. Communication skills and attention to detail will set apart the best among the candidates. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic and has a passion for parks and the outdoors.

The goal is to activate the park and organize unforgettable events as well as work with various groups to bring events to the C! We are looking for someone who can dedicate 20-40 hours a week depending upon the seasonal activation of the park. This role has the opportunity to become full-time.

  • Experience coordinating events is preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Phone etiquette and basic knowledge of park operations
  • Excellent vendor management skills
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings during events

  • Research vendors (catering, decorators, musicians etc.) and choose the best combination of quality and cost
  • Compose park permits for various organizations and collect payments
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings as needed for events
  • Manage all event operations (preparing venue, invitations etc.)
  • Do final checks on the day of the event to ensure everything meets standards
  • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems
  • Evaluate event’s success and submit reports/surveys

Part-time Camp host (NO LONGER AVAILABLE)

Seasonal | April-October | Complimentary Stay

Lake Cunningham Campground is seeking a reliable and flexible individual for the position of Part-Time Camp Host. This role involves providing reprieve to our main hosts for two-week intervals. As a Campground Host, you will be the ambassador of Lake Cunningham Campground, fostering a positive and friendly atmosphere for the camping community.

  • Individual over the age of 19
  • Availability for part-time hours, with a willingness to cover two-week intervals
  • Enthusiastic about the outdoors and camping experiences
  • Friendly, positive, and approachable demeanor
  • Ability to contribute to a safe and welcoming environment
  • Offer support to the main hosts by covering responsibilities for two-week periods
  • Be an ambassador of Lake Cunningham Campground, upholding the values of friendliness, helpfulness, and safety
  • Foster a positive camping experience for visitors by providing assistance and information
  • Greet campers, answer questions, and make sure they are enjoying their experience
  • Assist in operations of the campground which will include checking campers in and out
  • Stay up to date with the daily campground schedule and work hand in hand with internal staff 
  • Help maintain campground areas by picking up litter, cleaning campsites, replenish bathroom supplies and assist in keeping the bathhouse clean
  • Enforce campground related rules and contact park staff and other law enforcement personnel about emergencies
  • Partake in other projects and assignments based on the park needs and the hosts’ skills and interests

  • Willingness to have a flexible schedule and be available on weekends
